Homework 5 CS1410 "A message to Garcia"

The essay was well written and easy to read. It had a really good moral to the story and I enjoyed it. The author made is his point very clear and simple, making sure he wasn't too harsh to readers. I feel that I can relate to his thinking for I've seen plenty of co-workers who are unworthy of carrying the letter to Garcia. I was quite surprise of all of the people that I can think of who falls into this catergory from past work places. The author is right about one thing, those people who are able to carry the message is needed in this world, and there is only a few of those who can. As far as I've known, all of my past employers are reluctant to let me leave a work place. I guess I am worthy of carrying the message also.

Lab 4 Assignment

Import Tuning

I was fasinated with the car tuning industry since the first time I drove a slightly modified Honda Accord back in high school.
Although it was my cousin's car and all he had done to it was slapped on an intake and exhaust, I fell in love with the hobby.
It alway amazes me the endless possibilities that I can do to a machine to make it faster, and perform better.

For begininers

Looking for a car. Start off by looking for a used import car. A honda civic is the best of choice, but the choice is yours. There is an endless possibility out there. You just have to know what to look for. Keep in mind that this will be your beginner car. You can upgrade in the furture to something better
whenever you think you are ready.

  • Honda Civic

  • Toyota Celica

  • Honda Accord

  • Nissan Sentra or 240sx

  • Mitsubishi Eclipse

  • Simple Add-on's

      Cheap but inexpensive

  • Intake System. Look for brands like Weapon R, Iceman, Tanable, Buddy Club

  • Exhaust. It'll be a good idea to go ahead and get the complete setup meaing headers, catback, and the exhaust. Look for brands like OBX, Greddy, Tanable

  • Brighter Headlights or even changing the color to blue or yellow. Give the car an aggressive look.

  • Rims and Tires. Look for lightweight rims to improve the handling of the vehicle.

    1. More expensive but worth the bucks

  • Suspension. Lowering the height of the vehicle improves handling and safe driving conditions. Look for springs or coilovers such as Teins, Skunk2, Dropzone.
  • Body Kit. This improves the aerodynamics of the car. It doesn't matter which style of company you get it from, just make sure you like it and that it's made of quality fiberglass or urethane

  • These are all beginner add-on's and if install properly will not hurt the vehicle nor engine in anyway. Better yet you will feel the difference in performance and ride quality.
Any other aftermarket parts such as cam gears, pistons, turbo, superchargers, etc... will require the assistance of a professional or someone with who's been working on tuning for a while.
Here are some links for you to get a taste of the import scene, and places where you can actually buy some of these parts mentioned: Import tuner,
Nopi.com . Now that you know the basics, get to tuning you car today. Good luck!

    1996 Nissan 240sx

This is my Nissan 240sx. I bought this car about a year ago in perfect mint condition. Because of my student budget, I haven't done too much upgrades to the car yet. So far I've worked on suspension and put on Tein Springs S-Tech with KYB Gas2 Shocks. I bought some Damani Tech-5 Gunmetal 17inch rims with Nexen N3000 tires (215/45/17). My car is actually sitting on my stock rims because I haven't gotten the car aligned yet. Here's a picture of the car with the rims.

    Future plans:
    1. Alignment
    2. Jdm Sr20det motor swap
    3. Greddy front lip
    4. More suspension
